Augusta is also home to the historic Springfield Baptist Church. Founded in 1787, it is the oldest independent African-American congregation in the United States. Other local attractions and events include monthly downtown evening gallery tours, summer celebrations at Lakefest, fourth of July celebrations at Patriots Park, and the Georgia Games.
